This is the title page of an 1577 pamphlet describing the appearance of a phantom Black Dog during a storm in two churches in Suffolk, England, on August 4, 1577. This is the only illustration in the account, and may be the first such to be associated with continuing legends of the phantom Black Dogs reported throughout Europe.
