1979: Natagette Joseph

In 1979, a police officer recognized a strange woman wandering around a village in Haiti as Natagette Joseph... which surprised the police officer, for he had declared her dead in the same village thirteen years earlier! Joseph, aged around sixty, was believed to have died after being injured in a land dispute in 1966.

Local beliefs labeled the returned woman a 'zombie', but she was able to walk and talk (though with some difficulty); some family members took her in after her unexpected reappearance. No more is available about her case that I can find in English language publications, though more might be available in Haitian newspapers.
