1939 (pre): The Society Girl

According to Zora Hurston, a society girl in Haiti was discovered a few years after her 'death' to be alive in a house in town. Her parents are said to have sent her to a French convent after this.

The above comes from Alfred Metraux' 1959 book, Voodoo in Haiti... but he attributes the story to the even earlier 1939 book by Zora Hurston, Voodoo Gods: An Inquiry into Native Myths and Magic in Jamaica and Haiti. I have not yet been able to get a copy of this earlier volume to confirm the details of the story, though I rather hope Hurston has more details... because there just isn't much here. For now, I'm marking this account as 'Unreliable' and 'Investigate' until I get more information.
