On November 19, 1995, the town hall of Wem, in Shropshire, England, was completely gutted by a fire; and on March 6, 1996, the Shropshire Star released what appears to be the first public notice of a rather strange photo... though now shown to be a fake, the "Wem Ghost" or "Fire Girl" photo held it's claim to fame for nineteen years, and exposed an actual haunting that hadn't been reported previously!
