1913, January 6: The Patient Bullet [Patrons Only]

Henry Ziegland, the story goes, had avoided death twenty years earlier, only to be killed in 1913 by the very bullet that had missed him the first time around. This fact was dutifully reported by Robert Ripley in his famous Believe It or Not! comic strip and, in fact, the event was heavily reported in newspapers across the United States in 1913... but this was only part of a larger story.
