Empress Eugenie and her family escaped from France to exile in England in 1870, her husband Napoleon III died in 1873, and her only son the Prince Imperial Louis died in the Zulu War of 1879... and this last loss was too much for her to bear. She determined to travel to Africa and find her son's final resting place; and when it seemed that she would never find it, a miracle happened.
