This is the first book on anomalous data I ever read, and I must admit I loved it. As a text, it became a standard reference book for a whole generation of occult and paranormal writers, still being used as late as 1992 by Charles Berlitz for his book World of the Incredible but True. Unfortunately, as I actually started to examine Edward's book, it became painfully clear that almost all his stories are lifted from the 1950's issues of FATE magazine, and often altered to sound more exciting; in fact, one of the stories he included in this book was later proved entirely false. Thus, for nearly forty years Stranger than Science has been misleading armchair parapsychologists who never took the time to double-check on the stories they were copying.
